Our postponed 2024 Championships took place amongst some wet and windy weather. A huge Thank You to everyone who took part and to those who gave up their day to help. Congratulations to Camilla Esling on Teddy and Zoe Hockley on Shaun, who won their classes in the British Riding Clubs Christmas Online Dressage Competition. Along with Emma Cartright and Tracey Cameron, their team came 3rd out of the 90 teams entered from clubs across the country.

It was a fantastic five competing at Bromyard for the club, with everyone getting placed in their respective classes. Huge congratulations to Emma Wilesmith, who won the Novice, and Stella Bunn who won the Advanced Medium classes. Both qualify for the BRC Winter Dressage Championships 2025.

12th and 13th October 2024: Area 18 Show Jumping Qualifier
A fab start to MHRC's 2025 Championship campaign - Heather Ridley qualified for the Senior 70 and Jessie Mothersole for the Junior 80 by winning their individual classes at Lincomb. We also had three teams qualify - Oscar Toole, Holly Mothersole, Lilly Mitchell and Olivia Kinahan in the Junior 70; Beth Mussell-Evans, Sue Peckham and Natalie Smith in the Senior 80; and Sophie Toole, Jessie Mothersole, Megan Horbury and Esme Ruff in the Mixed 90. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

19th September 2024: Blenheim International Horse Trials Riding Club Challenge

8th September 2024: Mercian Arena Eventing
Well done to everyone who competed in the Arena Eventing at Gracelands. Our teams came 2nd and 5th in the 50/60cm class and 4th and 5th in the 70/80cm class. We also took the individual top spot in three out of the four classes, with Sue Peckham winning the 50cm, Jess Spanswick the 60cm and Heather Ridley the 70cm.
Well done to everyone who competed in the Arena Eventing at Gracelands. Our teams came 2nd and 5th in the 50/60cm class and 4th and 5th in the 70/80cm class. We also took the individual top spot in three out of the four classes, with Sue Peckham winning the 50cm, Jess Spanswick the 60cm and Heather Ridley the 70cm.

7th September 2024: Moreton Show Arena Eventer Challenge
Congratulations to Rose Chugg-Martin, Jessie Mothersole, Oscar Toole and Helen Keats, who represented the club at Moreton Show and came 9th overall and were the 3rd highest placed riding club team.

The club had an amazing weekend at Lincoln, with 19 members representing MHRC across the two days. Out of the 10 teams that we sent, we were 8th in the Junior Dressage and Senior Prelim Dressage, 6th in Junior Riding Test, 4th in the Senior Style Jumping, 3rd in the Junior Style Jumping and 2nd in the Junior 80 Show Jumping. But the stars of the weekend were our Senior 80 Show Jumping team of Pip Webster, Beth Mussell-Evans, Lauren Philpotts and Megan Horbury, who were crowned 2024 CHAMPIONS. Also huge congratulations to Sophie Toole, who won the Senior Style Jumping Championship. Julie Jeffes was Reserve Champion in the Senior 90 and Oscar Toole Reserve Champion of the Junior 80. A full list of results will be published in the September newsletter.

17th August 2024: South West and Wales Riding Clubs Championship
Congratulation to our two teams who qualified for the Championships at Hartpury. Stephanie Bateman came 5th individually in the dressage, with Julie Jeffes 4th in the 90cm Show Jumping. But stars of the day were the SJ team of Julie, Beth Mussell-Evans, Sue Moger and Sarah Brown, who were crowned CHAMPIONS after an afternoon of stiff competition.

Congratulations to our 8 members who qualified for and successfully competed at the Horse Trials Qualifier at Swalcliffe. And a huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers who gave up time to fence judge on our behalf.
Our Mixed 70 Team of Sue Peckham, Beth Mussell-Evans, Holly Mothersole and Jo Jeynes came 7th, with Sue coming 5th individually. Our Junior 80 team of Rose Chugg-Martin, Jess Mothersole and Katie Spanswick were 2nd, with Rose 8th and Jess 3rd. Lottie Gilderson competed as an individual in the 100 and came 6th.

MHRC teams were also 2nd and 3rd in the Senior Prelim competition, earning qualification for the SWWRC Championships at Hartpury.

Our Senior team of Sue Peckham, Jodie Powell, Annitta Engel and Beth Mussell-Evans were 3rd after all four members were placed either 3rd or 4th in their respective classes. Our Individual Junior riders Katie Spanswick and Flora Gittins won their classes, gaining qualification for the BRC Combined Championships. And Caroline Bates came 2nd in her class.

Five members won their individual classes: Bonnie Bowness - Intro A; Alex Ross Prelim 1 and Ridden Hunter; Mollie Farney - Ridden Riding Club; Rose Chugg-Martin - Ridden Coloured. Rose and Alex then went on to be crowned Ridden Showing Champion and Reserve.

Congratulations to our Junior 80 team of Rose Chugg-Martin, Jessie Mothersole and Katie Spanswick, and our Mixed 70cm team of Sue Peckham, Jo Jeynes, Holly Mothersole and Beth Mussell-Evans who won their team events, qualifying for the 2024 Championships. They will be joined by Lottie Gilderson, who qualifies in the 100 class as the highest individual not the winning team.

Another excellent championships for the club, with 13 riders and 14 horses representing the club over the weekend. Huge congratulations to Hilary Warren, who was individual 3rd in the Senior 70 competition and Rose Chugg-Martin who was 7th in the Junior 80. Our Senior 80 team of Megan Horbury, Sue Peckham, Beth Mussell-Evans and Jodie Powell came 9th overall and our Junior 70 team of Bonnie Bowness, Holly Mothersole, Oscar Toole and Flora Gittins were 5th.

Huge congratulations to our 6 members who qualified for the BRC Championships. Juniors Flora Gittins and Bonnie Bowness competed in the Dressage, as did Julie Jeffes in the Senior section. But our 90cm Jumping team of Sue Moger, Sarah Brown, Beth Mussell-Evans and Julie Jeffes came 7th after a very tense jump-off.

Massive congratulations to our Junior Show Jumping Team of Katie Spanswick, Rose Chugg-Martin, Bonnie Bowness and Oscar Toole, who were amazing at the Championships. They were the only team to end on a zero score and were crowned NATIONAL JUNIOR 70cm CHAMPIONS. Sarah Brown on Coora Anne also had a fantastic day - leading the Novice 27 until she was just pipped to the top spot by the last rider of the day.

The club had a fantastic day at Rectory Farm for the Area Arena Eventing Qualifier, with both our Junior and Senior teams winning in the 70cm class, and our Senior team winning the 80cm class. Rose Chugg-Martin was the individual winner of the Junior 80 - so quite a team heading for the Championships next month.

9th and 10th March 2024: British Riding Clubs Introductory Dressage Championship and Dressage to Music Championship
The first BRC Championship of the year was attended by seven MHRC members across the two days. In the Junior Section, Rose Chugg-Martin came 2nd in her Intro class and 3rd in her Prelim class. While our Pairs riders of Heather Ridley and Stephanie Bateman, came 6th.

18th February 2024: Area 18 Intermediate Winter Dressage Qualifier
Another day of Dressage for the club at Allens Hill, with two Senior teams and two Junior Individuals competing. Congratulations to Bonnie Bowness and Julie Jeffes, who won their classes and are off to the Championships in April.

The club rocked the Senior Prelim class, with Camilla Esling 1st, Jodie Powell 2nd and Caroline Bates 3rd - all all three are off to the Championships in March.

28th January 2024: Area 18 Introductory Dressage Qualifier
The club enjoyed a great day at the Unicorn Centre for the first qualifier of the year. Junior Rose Chugg-Martin won both her Prelim and Intro classes to qualify for the Championships. She'll be joined by Stephanie Bateman and Heather Ridley, who won the Pairs class.

29th December 2023: We had a fun day at Allenshill for their Christmas Fun Jumping. Our 60 team was 2nd, our 70 teams were 2nd and 4th, and one of our 80 teams was also 2nd. There were individual places for Caroline Bates, Hilary Warren, Jodie Powell, Rose Chugg-Martin, Alice Cook and Sue Moger.
