It was off to Hartpury for the latest Area 18 qualifier, with MHRC represented by three senior teams and five individuals. Huge congratulations to Tracey Cameron, who was second in the Intro 3 class and qualifies for the BRC Dressage Championship 2025.

A fab start to MHRC's 2025 Championship campaign - Heather Ridley qualified for the Senior 70 and Jessie Mothersole for the Junior 80 by winning their individual classes at Lincomb. We also had three teams qualify - Oscar Toole, Holly Mothersole, Lilly Mitchell and Olivia Kinahan in the Junior 70; Beth Mussell-Evans, Sue Peckham and Natalie Smith in the Senior 80; and Sophie Toole, Jessie Mothersole, Megan Horbury and Esme Ruff in the Mixed 90. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

The last BRC Champs of the year and MHRC were represented by 6 member, who all won a rosette across their various classes. Our Senior team were 9th, with Beth Mussell-Evans winning an individual 4th and 10th, Sue Peckham 10th, Flora Gittins 9th, Caroline Bates 8th and Jodie Powell a 4th and a 3rd.

19th September 2024: Blenheim International Horse Trials Riding Club Challenge
Huge congratulations to our team of Megan Harper, Helen Keats, Julie Jeffes and Sue Moger who were placed 6th out of 44 teams in the 90cm Riding Club Challenge.

8th September 2024: Mercian Arena Eventing
Well done to everyone who competed in the Arena Eventing at Gracelands. Our teams came 2nd and 5th in the 50/60cm class and 4th and 5th in the 70/80cm class. We also took the individual top spot in three out of the four classes, with Sue Peckham winning the 50cm, Jess Spanswick the 60cm and Heather Ridley the 70cm.
Well done to everyone who competed in the Arena Eventing at Gracelands. Our teams came 2nd and 5th in the 50/60cm class and 4th and 5th in the 70/80cm class. The club had an amazing weekend at Lincoln, with 19 members representing MHRC across the two days. Out of the 10 teams that we sent, we were 8th in the Junior Dressage and Senior Prelim Dressage, 6th in Junior Riding Test, 4th in the Senior Style Jumping, 3rd in the Junior Style Jumping and 2nd in the Junior 80 Show Jumping. But the stars of the weekend were our Senior 80 Show Jumping team of Pip Webster, Beth Mussell-Evans, Lauren Philpotts and Megan Horbury, who were crowned 2024 CHAMPIONS. Also huge congratulations to Sophie Toole, who won the Senior Style Jumping Championship. Julie Jeffes was Reserve Champion in the Senior 90 and Oscar Toole Reserve Champion of the Junior 80. Congratulation to our two teams who qualified for the Championships at Hartpury. Stephanie Bateman came 5th individually in the dressage, with Julie Jeffes 4th in the 90cm Show Jumping. Congratulations to our 8 members who qualified for and successfully competed at the Horse Trials Qualifier at Swalcliffe. And a huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers who gave up time to fence judge on our behalf.
Our Mixed 70 Team of Sue Peckham, Beth Mussell-Evans, Holly Mothersole and Jo Jeynes came 7th, with Sue coming 5th individually. Our Junior 80 team of Rose Chugg-Martin, Jess Mothersole and Katie Spanswick were 2nd, with Rose 8th and Jess 3rd. Lottie Gilderson competed as an individual in the 100 and came 6th.

A massive undertaking by the club to run this qualifier - a huge thank you to everyone involved.
We also smashed the ridden side, with MHRC winning the Senior Prelim Dressage, Senior Open Dressage, Junior Dressage, Junior Riding Test, Senior Riding Test and the Pairs classes, with all 6 teams qualifying for the BRC National Championships at Lincoln. MHRC teams were also 2nd and 3rd in the Senior Prelim competition, earning qualification for the SWWRC Championships at Hartpury.

Five members won their individual classes: Bonnie Bowness - Intro A; Alex Ross Prelim 1 and Ridden Hunter; Mollie Farney - Ridden Riding Club; Rose Chugg-Martin - Ridden Coloured. Rose and Alex then went on to be crowned Ridden Showing Champion and Reserve.

Massive congratulations to our Junior Show Jumping Team of Katie Spanswick, Rose Chugg-Martin, Bonnie Bowness and Oscar Toole, who were amazing at the Championships. They were the only team to end on a zero score and were crowned NATIONAL JUNIOR 70cm CHAMPIONS. Sarah Brown on Coora Anne also had a fantastic day - leading the Novice 27 until she was just pipped to the top spot by the last rider of the day.

The club had a fantastic day at Rectory Farm for the Area Arena Eventing Qualifier, with both our Junior and Senior teams winning in the 70cm class, and our Senior team winning the 80cm class. 9th and 10th March 2024: British Riding Clubs Introductory Dressage Championship and Dressage to Music Championship
The first BRC Championship of the year was attended by seven MHRC members across the two days. In the Junior Section, Rose Chugg-Martin came 2nd in her Intro class and 3rd in her Prelim class. While our Pairs riders of Heather Ridley and Stephanie Bateman, came 6th.

29th December 2023: We had a fun day at Allenshill for their Christmas Fun Jumping. Our 60 team was 2nd, our 70 teams were 2nd and 4th, and one of our 80 teams was also 2nd. There were individual places for Caroline Bates, Hilary Warren, Jodie Powell, Rose Chugg-Martin, Alice Cook and Sue Moger.

4th November 2023: Fun Team Show Jumping
The club sent 5 teams to Hartpury for some Just For Fun jumping with the Croome Pony Club. All teams were placed, with the Malvern Hills Magpies winning the 60cm class and the Malvern Hills Maybelles second in the 50cm. Bonnie and Esther Bowness were both 6th individually in their classes and Katie Baker 5th in hers.
The club sent 5 teams to Hartpury for some Just For Fun jumping with the Croome Pony Club. A huge number of members represented the club at Hartpury. Our Junior team came 3rd and our highest placed Senior team was 4th. Katie Spanswick won two Championship qualifications in Intro C and Prelim 12, and Sarah Brown one qualification in Novice 27.

14th and 15th October 2023: Area 18 Show Jumping Qualifier
An amazing weekend for the club with lots of members competing across the two days ... and loads of Championship qualifications won! 8th October 2023: Mercian Dressage
Congratulations to our teams who were placed 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th in the huge Mercian competition at Allenshill. Lots of individual places too, but the stars of the day were Megan Harper on Donerrae and Heather Westgate on Mount of Olives, who were winners of the Intro and Prelim classes.

29th September to 1st October 2023: BRC Introductory Dressage and Dressage to Music Championships
The last two championships of the year ended on a high for the club. Steph Woolley was placed 3rd in the Advanced Medium Dressage Freestyle class - her first year competing at this level. While Camilla Esling and Jodie Powell did one better than their 2nd last year, and were crowned Intro Pairs Champions 2023.

2nd to 3rd September 2023: BRC National Championships
A great weekend for the club at Lincoln, with every single person who went bringing home at least one rosette - an amazing achievement. Huge congratulations to Rose Chugg-Martin, who won the Junior Intro Dressage Championship, and Holly Chivers who came 2nd in the 105 Show Jumping Championships. Our Junior Riding Test Team were 8th and our Senior Show Jumping Team were 9th. Please see the September newsletter for a a full report.

We had a fun day dancing to tunes at Bromyard Equestrian for the DTM qualifier. In the Prelim class, Jodie Powell was 3rd, Caroline Bates was 4th and Camilla Esling was 6th. But members Jane Bailey in the Novice and Steph Woolley in the Advanced Medium were both winners and qualify for the Championships later on in the year.

19th August 2023: South West and Wales Riding Club Championship
We were lucky enough to have three teams qualify for the Regional Championships at Hartpury. Our Prelim Dressage team of Jo Jeynes, Caroline Bates, Sarah Brown and Camilla Esling were placed 9th, with one of our Riding Test teams of Caroline Bates, Sarah Brown and Sue Peckham was placed 4th. Camilla won an individual 6th and Sue a 5th, but Sarah was the star of the day, winning both her Dressage and Riding Test classes.

We had loads of member competing at Sapey, with 9 teams in total and a few individuals. Congratulations to our Junior Riders Rose Chugg-Martin, Katie Spanswick, Bonnie Bowness and Daisy Toole, who have qualified for the BRC National Championships at Lincoln. And to our Seniors Caroline Bates, Jodie Powell, Sue Peckham, Camilla Esling, Jo Jeynes, Sarah Brown and Lauren Philpotts, who have qualified for the Riding Club Regionals at Hartpury.
