12th November 2023: MHRC Dressage Series
It was a bit wet and cold for our last Dressage show of the 2023 series, so thank you to everyone who came along and especially to the volunteers.

4th November 2023: Fun Team Show Jumping
The club sent 5 teams to Hartpury for some Just For Fun jumping with the Croome Pony Club. All teams were placed, with the Malvern Hills Magpies winning the 60cm class and the Malvern Hills Maybelles second in the 50cm. Bonnie and Esther Bowness were both 6th individually in their classes and Katie Baker 5th in hers.
The club sent 5 teams to Hartpury for some Just For Fun jumping with the Croome Pony Club. A huge number of members represented the club at Hartpury. Our Junior team came 3rd and our highest placed Senior team was 4th. Katie Spanswick won two Championship qualifications in Intro C and Prelim 12, and Sarah Brown one qualification in Novice 27.

14th and 15th October 2023: Area 18 Show Jumping Qualifier
An amazing weekend for the club with lots of members competing across the two days ... and loads of Championship qualifications won! Our 70cm Junior Team of Rose Chugg-Martin, Oscar Toole, Bonnie Bowness and Katie Spanswick, Junior 80 Individual Jessie Mothersole and Senior 80 Individual Beth Evans qualify for the BRC Novice Winter Championships 2024. While our Senior 90 team of Julie Jeffes, Sarah Brown, Sue Moger and Beth Evans, and 1m Individual Holly Chivers, qualify for the BRC Intermediate Winter Championships 2024.

Congratulations to our teams who were placed 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th in the huge Mercian competition at Allenshill. Lots of individual places too, but the stars of the day were Megan Harper on Donerrae and Heather Westgate on Mount of Olives, who were winners of the Intro and Prelim classes.

29th September to 1st October 2023: BRC Introductory Dressage and Dressage to Music Championships
The last two championships of the year ended on a high for the club. Steph Woolley was placed 3rd in the Advanced Medium Dressage Freestyle class - her first year competing at this level. While Camilla Esling and Jodie Powell did one better than their 2nd last year, and were crowned Intro Pairs Champions 2023.

A great weekend for the club at Lincoln, with every single person who went bringing home at least one rosette - an amazing achievement. Huge congratulations to Rose Chugg-Martin, who won the Junior Intro Dressage Championship, and Holly Chivers who came 2nd in the 105 Show Jumping Championships. Our Junior Riding Test Team were 8th and our Senior Show Jumping Team were 9th. Please see the September newsletter for a a full report.

We had a fun day dancing to tunes at Bromyard Equestrian for the DTM qualifier. In the Prelim class, Jodie Powell was 3rd, Caroline Bates was 4th and Camilla Esling was 6th. But members Jane Bailey in the Novice and Steph Woolley in the Advanced Medium were both winners and qualify for the Championships later on in the year.

19th August 2023: South West and Wales Riding Club Championship
We were lucky enough to have three teams qualify for the Regional Championships at Hartpury. Our Prelim Dressage team of Jo Jeynes, Caroline Bates, Sarah Brown and Camilla Esling were placed 9th, with one of our Riding Test teams of Caroline Bates, Sarah Brown and Sue Peckham was placed 4th. Camilla won an individual 6th and Sue a 5th, but Sarah was the star of the day, winning both her Dressage and Riding Test classes.

30th July 2023: Area 18 Summer Dressage and Riding Test Qualifier
We had loads of member competing at Sapey, with 9 teams in total and a few individuals. Congratulations to our Junior Riders Rose Chugg-Martin, Katie Spanswick, Bonnie Bowness and Daisy Toole, who have qualified for the BRC National Championships at Lincoln. And to our Seniors Caroline Bates, Jodie Powell, Sue Peckham, Camilla Esling, Jo Jeynes, Sarah Brown and Lauren Philpotts, who have qualified for the Riding Club Regionals at Hartpury.

23rd July 2023: Area 18 Introductory Dressage Qualifier and Open Dressage Show
MHRC took on the task of running this qualifier on behalf on Area 18 and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Our Senior Team of Jodie Powell, Camilla Esling, Rebethan Lord and Jo Jeynes won the day and have qualified for the Championships in October. Jodie and Camilla also won the Pairs class for the second year in a row.
MHRC riders also triumphed in the Open classes, with Zoe Hockley winning the Intro, Rebethan Lord and Annabel McCourt joint winners of the Prelim and Elinor Lloyd winning the Novice.

We had a lovely day at Frampton Estate for the latest competition in the Mercian League. Our Showing teams were on top form, coming 1st and 2nd, with an individual win for Charlotte Treleaven and Solis in the Coloured Class. Two of our Dressage teams were also in the ribbons, coming 4th and 5th, with Katie Baker and RTS Jayne winning the Prelim 1.

8th July 2023: Area 18 Style Jumping Qualifier
We had a great day at Rectory Farm for the Style Jumping. Jodie Powell and Rose Chugg-Martin were individual winners of their classes, gaining qualification for the National Championships. They will be joined by Beth Evans, who was the highest placed individual not on the winning team.

25th June 2023: Mercian Show Jumping
We had a very successful day at Cleeve Prior, with our SJ teams. The Malvern Reds of Jo Jeynes, Chris Esling, Jodie Powell and Charlotte Treleaven won both the 70 and 80cm classes, with the Malvern Blues of Grace Jenkins, Ali Tate and Mollie Farley were 4th and 3rd in the same classes.

She'll be joined by the 70cm team of Sue Peckham, Jodie Powell, Jo Jeynes and Katie Spanswick, who were also crowned winners on the day.

21st May 2023: BRC Combined Championships
Congratulations to Rose Chugg-Martin, Katie Spanswick and Beth Evans, who represented the club on a National stage at the latest BRC Championships. Katie and Beth competed in the 80 Challenge - a course of SJ and XC fences on a grass arena - while Rose did the Junior Combined Training. Her and Lily did an amazing dressage test to lead the class from the start and after a lovely clear round over the Show Jumps, were crowned Champions. |

The first Mercian team competition of the year went brilliantly for the club, with our teams being placed 1st and 4th. Individually, it was a clean sweep in the Prelim class, with Jodie Powell winning the class, Camilla Esling 2nd and Caroline Bates 3rd.

Thank you to everyone who helped us run the show at Allenshill, especially as it meant giving up your Easter Sunday. It was a great success and we had lots of positive comments about the day.
Our Junior Riders did brilliantly, with Katie Spanswick coming 2nd in her class, and Rose Chugg-Martin winning hers, so qualifies for the Championships next month. Sadly, no team place for our Seniors, but Beth Evans was 3rd individually in her class.
Thank you to everyone who helped us run the show at Allenshill, especially as it meant giving up your Easter Sunday. It was a great success and we had lots of positive comments about the day.

Sponsored by NAF, there were amazing prizes for 1st to 3rd, chocolates and HUGE rosettes for everyone who entered, plus beautiful sashes for the Champion & Reserve in each class. A huge well done to everyone who took part and CONGRATULATIONS to our class winners.

30th December 2022: Congratulations to our teams who headed off to Allenshill for a bit of fun Christmas Jumping. All three teams were placed and there were individual ribbons for Helen Keats, Lydia Webster and Charlotte Treleaven.

Lots of team and individual places, but a special CONGRATULATIONS to Julie Jeffes and Barry, who won the 90 class and have gained our first qualification for the 2023 Championships.
